Ridgeway Rovers – Team Spirit in Lockdown
With Lockdown III, it has been a lot tougher on the kids of Ridgeway Rovers Tigers u9, with changes to their learning provision, reduced social interaction and little to no football. It has not been an easy or comfortable time but the kids have shown great resilience knowing that there will soon be a return to normality.
The kids recently caught up with each other and their coach on a Zoom call. It was great to see that their spirit was very strong despite the difficulties they are experiencing. The team chatted with such enthusiasm and excitement – the conversations ranging from what they did over the Christmas break, their presents, online games Roblox/Fortnight, and of course their favourite subject – football. With the kids supporting a variety of teams (Liverpool, Manchester Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Watford) the conversation did get quite amusing.
With such limited access to facilities, the kids have tried their best to make use of their gardens, parks and car parks. However, with the cold weather kicking in it has made it even harder to go out. The social interaction definitely drives these kids to play for Ridgeway Rovers Tigers u9s so practicing is fun but nothing beats training and playing with each other on that football pitch.
The kids remain resolute and are doing their level best to remain fit and sharp – ready for when the season restarts. Until then, the plan is to arrange another Zoom call and perhaps organize a quiz using the Kahoot platform, testing their football and general knowledge.
The Tigers wish to thank Xenomorph for their support through this time and the kids cannot wait to put those kits back on and do them proud!
