Xenomorph Opens Asia-Pac Support Ops

Data management technology and analytics provider Xenomorph is building a support presence across Asia-Pacific to support existing clients and to drive new business in the region.

The vendor, which has already relocated two staff to Melbourne, Australia, will move one employee to Singapore later this year, and is looking to set up an office in Hong Kong next year, says Xenomorph chief executive Brian Sentance.

Chris Budgen, chief technical architect and one of the original co-founders of Xenomorph, moved to Melbourne earlier this year, where he is focusing on providing technical support to client projects in Asia-Pacific. Brian Kristensen, Xenomorph's head of product development in London, has taken over Budgen's responsibilities for the day-to-day running of the vendor's development team.

More recently, senior developer Irina Taran has just moved from London to Melbourne, while David Winson, the vendor's head of consultancy, will move from London to Singapore around year-end.

Sentance says he plans to adopt a similar model when the vendor opens an office in Hong Kong - probably next year - and move experienced staff from its London office to kickstart local operations.

"Our existing global clients wanted round-the-clock support, which we previously provided overnight from London and New York. And we wanted a presence to support existing clients in Hong Kong and the satellite offices of European client banks in Singapore," Sentance says.

"I think Asian regulatory authorities are probably watching what the European regulators are doing, and with all the changes in attitude towards risk and regulation, we think there is a lot of potential for growth in the Asian market, so we are making sure we have a capability in place to respond to that. And if things do take off among local institutions, I hope to put more people on the ground and start hiring locally," he adds.
